4,300 gallons of milk to be distributed to Plainville (MA)-area families on June 4
Plainville, MA, June 4, 2020 – Dairy Farmers of America (DFA), a national dairy cooperative, MA State Representative Shawn Dooley, Vanguard Renewables, and H.P. Hood are partnering to donate 4,300 gallons of milk to families in need in a Farmers Feeding Families milk drive up event at Plainridge Park Casino, Plainville, MA on June 4, starting at 9 a.m. The Farmers Feeding Families event includes participation from the MA Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), and the MA National Guard. Limit of three gallons per car or walk up.
Access to food is a challenge for many in these times and DFA members wanted to do something to help even when times are tough for farmers. MA State Representative Shawn Dooley, Vanguard Renewables, DFA, and H.P. Hood wanted to continue their efforts to get milk into the hands of more Massachusetts residents in need. This is the third Farmers Feeding Families event that Vanguard Renewables has co-sponsored in the past month and the second for Rep. Dooley. Other events were held in Boston on May 7 and in Providence on May 27.
“I was pleased to be able to partner with Vanguard Renewables and DFA to bring a milk donation event to the Massachusetts families I represent,” said MA State Representative Shawn Dooley. “My constituents in Medfield, Millis, Norfolk, Plainville, Walpole, and Wrentham have been hard hit by the pandemic and this is one great thing we can do to help.”
The Farmers Feeding Families event will open to the public at 9 a.m. and volunteers from the MA National Guard, MEMA, and Vanguard Renewables will distribute the gallons of whole milk to cars and walk-up individuals on a first-come, first-served basis, with a three-gallon per car or walk-up limit. All participants must wear face coverings and adhere to social distancing guidelines. The event will run until 4 p.m. or until the milk is gone. Plainridge Park Casino is located at 301 Washington Street, Plainville, MA.
