Health, Safety, & Environment Policy
The Vanguard Renewables Leadership Team is all-in to protect the safety and health of our workforce and the environment. We are committed to adopting the following safety, security, health, and environmental principles in everything that we do.

- Leadership Accountability: It is everyone’s responsibility to ensure that Vanguard operates safely and reliably. We expect strict adherence to our HSE policies from all personnel at all levels of the organization. We have zero tolerance for foul play. Our leaders visibly demonstrate their commitment and are accountable for results.
- Compliance: We comply with all applicable laws and regulations, wherever we conduct business. We inspect what we expect. We verify conformance with the spirit and letter of applicable laws and regulations, regardless of the degree of enforcement.
- Positive Culture & Reinforcement: We maintain a positive HSE culture through recognition, partnership, and representation in employee committees. We create an environment where our employees and contractors look out for each other. We consistently role model our company values and expectations.
- Stop Work Authority/Responsibility: We believe everyone has the authority and responsibility to stop work and prevent incidents. We empower our workforce to report all safety and environmental concerns without fear of retaliation. We protect those who have the courage to flag unsafe behaviors or conditions.
- Risk & Safeguard Stewardship: We identify risks associated with our operations throughout the lifecycle of our projects. We know and understand the safeguards required to mitigate the risk. We develop programs to verify and validate that our safeguards are in place and functioning. We periodically review safeguard assurance programs and mitigate gaps.

- Business Partners: We expect everyone who works with us to follow the highest standards of performance. We collaborate with our suppliers, contractors, and partners to ensure that our vision and objectives are understood, shared, and adopted.
- Learning & Human Performance: We understand that error is not the opposite of success. We know that systems influence human behavior, and that humans will make mistakes. We capture learnings from the field through normal work. We involve the right people to investigate incidents, identify root causes, and prevent recurrence.
- Environmental Stewardship: We measure, control and minimize our environmental impacts (air, water, land, waste, carbon, biodiversity). We include environmental considerations in projects, changes of equipment, processes, and assets. We enhance energy efficiency and our use of natural resources throughout the lifecycle of our projects.
- Crisis & Emergency Response: We routinely test our emergency response capabilities against all credible and significant risks. We are prepared for crises that can affect our workforce, the environment, and our communities. We collaborate with local first responders and build relationships to promote communication for effective emergency response.
- Training & Competency: We challenge our teams to raise the bar and sharpen their skills. We provide opportunities to engage with and learn from the field. We position our workforce for success and ensure they have the skills, resources, and guidance to perform their jobs safely and proficiently.
